Precious provided students with consent to use imagery and snippets from her class. And we were all very delighted and excited by this. ESPECIALLY ME - I am a cam wh0r3 afterall. It was a very respectul space and forum. Wanted to make that clear before anyone gets angry about this.
<3 open dialogue and discussion FOSTERED
I was humbled and honoured to have the opportunity to sit down with musician, artist, creator, godly woman - Precious Renee Tucker; for a Piano anatomy class with a group of 12(ish) other global creatives across the UK, US, South Africa, Canada (me) on Saturday, January 10th.
I was prompted to take the class as a silent (and sometimes loud) Tik Tok troll (self plug - follow me if you want lol @justaonewomanshow). I had come across Precious’ videos (@preciousplayspiano on TT) ; and became enamoured my her creativity, flow and confidence in being an alt creative poc baddie doing life as the wind takes her.
I continued following her journey (genuinely can’t remember when I started consuming her content across socials) but quickly became a loyalist #fan after feeling a sense of nostalgia… perhaps. Or a better term might be a feeling of familiarity with her essence. <3

Not going to disclose many personal details, but I had a less-than-ideal day with work being a baddie in #corporatetech. So the lesson was a very timely forum for me to feel seen, energized and genuinely so inspired by fellow POCs and artists in the same creative space.
The biggest takeaway for myself, as someone trying to dip my toe back into creative pursuits after two decades of doing the opposite… is that we can “enjoy delay before resolution”.
Let that sit with you for a little bit. Enjoy delay before resolution. Breathe in and out.
Precious started the class with kind and very ego-less remarks like: “[…] Feel so humbled to share a learning environment with you all” and '“Thank you, thank you, thank you”. Not one thank you - but three. Did I tell you that she also stayed behind and continued discussion with those who wanted to continue asking her questions?
Beyond her obviously INSANE musical talents, Precious is special because she has a very Earth-like, grounding energy. With her ability to see eye to eye with each and every one of us in class (even those not verablly speaking or the loudest in the room like me lol) - she had a natural and innate ability to immediately dissolve any sort of anxious energy in the room.
She also validated that she has been thinking a lot about elements of our mind-body connection and I saw her geek out (like I do) on science, psychology - the whole lot!
Hailing from Arkansas, Precious grew up in a humble, Christian household. Prior to this sensational woman’s internet “blow up” Precious was, “working as a server and teacher before videos of her playing piano and four keyboards at once went viral on TikTok and Instagram” (The Fader, 2025). This article does a great summary of her accomplishments, since then! “[…]She's been invited to play Knowles' most recent Saint Heron book event in New York City, an intimate show for designer Telfar Clemons, plus that aforementioned performance in London, where she appeared as part of an organ installation. Her crowd of online adorers has grown to include Amaarae, keiyaA, Kelsey Lu, Zack Fox, and Kelela, among others, all of whom frequently comment on her Instagram to express their gratitude for her sharing her craft.”
Given her busy schedule - Precious had to reschedule her class, but we gracious students I think were all just humbled that she was providing her time to us (at a VERY affordable rate per class might I add. Check out details here). Despite this, she firstly addressed and apologized for the rescheduling in a very accountable way (quick video snippet below) and she went even went above and beyond to provide us with an additional class as a “make up”.
I cannot IMAGINE the level of excitement, but also subconscious stress Precious might have been feeling (do not want to put words in her mouth); but again, putting myself in her shoes - going from working in a perhaps more traditional service job to being a multi-channel performance artist!
I could go on and on about how much of an inspiration Precious is, but I will keep it short. Thank you for sharing your energy, your art, your mind, your soul and the space for people to connect via music and piano. I cannot WAIT for the next class. Consider me SAT through and through, Precious.
My own streams of consciousness during class:
People are more concerned with our differences, my curiosity lies in that but more what makes us similar
Music is science and art - math once complex has no answer; people should be comfortable with greyspace.
Headspace - where the wild things are…. in a wolf of wall street world
Sensitive - bad word; we are all emotionally probably quite sensitive; trained to be dull and numb given society and systems
Artists are sensitive
We’re tactile - sensory! I wanted to learn braille lol
Sensitivities get heightened amidst political chaos
Media literacy - consume what you want you want your headspace to be
Slower consumption
Mind-body connection
Accept but challenge
Yin & Yang
Foster childlike wonder & curiosity
Humans want to feel liberation in times of chaos
EGO & HUMILITY! Let’s ungatekeep while protecting and championing the people that need it
