YEOGEOL 1: ALHAN (ALLIE) MILLER | A (FRANK) CONVO ON SPIRITUALITY, LOSS, AND CAREER TRANSFORMATION PT 1.

PROLOGUE BY FRAN: YEOGEOL (여걸)

Welcome to the first installment of YEOGEOL (여걸), a series profiling women who navigate the space between tradition and modernity with purpose, grit, and an unmistakable presence. These women are the backbone of communities, the architects of institutions, and quietly - yet powerfully - reclaiming the past and remaking the future. Thank you for reading, paying attention, and listening.

ALLIE MILLER: A MULTI-HYPHENATE POWERHOUSE

I had the chance to sit down with Alhan (Allie) Miller, and while we’ve crossed paths at work events before, this conversation felt like an instant alignment. We’re both Scorpios, and the chemistry was that rare mix of curiosity and blunt clarity. Forty-five minutes felt like the opening chapter of a 1300-page encyclopedia. There’s too much to cover in just one sitting, so expect this to unfold into a multi-part, possibly multi-media series.

Allie’s story is one of graceful persistence. Born in Iraq, raised in the U.S., she now leads as an Account Director in Enterprise Automotive at Salesforce - leading in an industry where leadership roles often look the same: white and male. When I asked her how it feels to be the only woman in the room, her answer was direct and provoked great clarity: “When I’m the only woman in the meeting, that feels powerful.” That, ladies and gentlemen, is a very strong recalibration.

Beyond the boardroom, Allie wears many hats: mother to two teenage boys, life partner, spiritual seeker, and an emerging life coach. Check out her recent newsletter series here. These roles aren’t side notes - they’re integral to how she navigates authority, tenderness, and purpose. Our conversation took us through career strategy, cultural translation, the quiet labour of parenting, and the loud work of presence. We mixed practical advice with moments of spiritual reflection and personal accountability. And trust me, after a more in-depth convo with her, (albeit yes, I may be predisposed to some bias like we all are), I can assure you she’s absolutely NOT one of those pseudo-spiritual guru folks. No matter how “woo woo” or “out there” you want to label me, her, us… read along and perhaps you’ll learn a thing or two.

Below is a distillation of the major themes we covered. Hopefully, these insights offer a glimpse into how resilience, curiosity, and conviction can coexist in one life, and how a single moment in time can become a main stage for reinvention.

COLES NOTES FROM GEMINI:

  • Immigrant Experience and Challenges:
Allie opened up about the tough realities of growing up as an immigrant. She and her family had to “figure it out” with minimal institutional support - navigating college applications, job opportunities, and cultural barriers.

  • How Loss Leads to a New Direction:
After losing her father (fresh into her 20s, a pivotal time in life), Allie found herself at a crossroads. She ended an engagement that no longer felt right, left behind expectations, and pursued her dreams. This moment was a wake-up call to reevaluate her life and embark on a new path.

  • Spirituality and Personal Growth:
Allie shared how spirituality has been crucial in her life since her father’s passing. Transformation, she learned, isn't about quick fixes but about consistent action and showing up every day. “Inspired action” became her mantra.

  • Career Shift from Digital Media to Automotive SaaS:
After a decade in digital media, Allie felt unfulfilled and out of place. She transitioned into automotive tech at Salesforce, realizing she could aim higher. Seeing others at Edmunds.com doing the job she wanted and earning more was the catalyst for her career shift.

  • Integrating Spirituality with Neuroscience:
Allie is deeply invested in the science behind spirituality, learning about the mind-body connection and how our nervous systems influence the energy we put out into the world. She’s passionate about combining science and spirituality for real, lasting change.

  • Setting Boundaries and Letting Go of Negative Energy:
Allie offered gems about protecting your energy. You can’t carry others’ baggage. Learning to let go of toxic influences is essential for living a peaceful, aligned life.

A glimpse of her beautiful, hard-earned happy place!

The Science of Energy: The Role of Aura and Energy Fields in Personal Transformation

In our discussion on spirituality, personal growth, and energy, we touched on the concept of energy fields (also known as auras). Sounds too meta for you? Just follow along. These fields are often overlooked but play a crucial role in our emotional and physical well-being. A 2023 study on Stress-Based Monitoring and Analysis of Human Aura (source: SciSpace) explores the connection between our emotional states and the energy fields surrounding us.

The study emphasizes that these energy fields are shaped by both our physical and mental states and can reflect the stress we accumulate. What’s fascinating is how our aura can give us insight into whether we are truly aligned with our personal values or if we’re absorbing negative energy from external sources. When we’re out of balance, whether through emotional trauma, life transitions, or energy drain from others, our auras can literally become fragmented, showing up as areas of “weakness.”

This ties directly to Allie’s conversation about protecting your energy and the importance of setting boundaries. If we don’t consciously monitor the energy we let in, it can cause imbalances in our auric fields, leading to physical stress or emotional exhaustion. Practices like mindfulness, meditation, and self-care are essential for keeping our energy aligned. I’m also a major advocate for integrating Western and Eastern practices for health and well-being. Tylenol is great, but why not also consider herbal remedies?

By becoming more aware of how energy flows around us, we can protect our emotional health and ensure we’re not unknowingly carrying burdens that aren’t ours to bear. As the study suggests, maintaining a healthy aura requires consistent awareness of what affects us and the deliberate action we take to nurture our energy fields.

Now On AI & Technology (VERY ADHD But Intertwined, Stay With Me)

A small shoutout to Ms. Gemini Notes, technology and AI. A quick reminder that AI doesn’t have to be a replacement for human connection or creativity, it can be a powerful tool to enhance genuinely enhance productivity. Without sounding like a tech billboard, AI is here - whether we like it or not and it’s meant to, in my lens, support us in the work we do: helping us process, organize, and accelerate tasks without losing the authenticity and depth of the human experience. It’s about collaboration, not replacement.

As we continue to navigate the intersection of technology and humanity, I truly believe that when used properly, AI can free us up to do more meaningful work while also helping us preserve the raw, unfiltered elements that make us human.

Final Thoughts

Allie’s story is a testament to resilience, courage, and the power of making choices that are true to yourself. From navigating the complexities of being an immigrant to transforming loss into a whole new direction, she’s the epitome of a YEOGEOL: a grandiose woman shaping her own path.

There’s more to come! So stay tuned as we dive deeper into her journey, including spirituality, self-care, and how to build a life of true fulfillment.

Signed,

Fran with gratitude x
